The form on the home page keeps you on rails — pick an audience and it decides which genres, tones and worlds you're allowed. This page removes the rails. Describe the story in your own words and that is the story you get.
Any genre — including ones with no name
Horror, noir, absurdist, magical realism, a eulogy that turns into a heist. The guided form offers a list; here you write your own.
Any voice, any structure
First or second person, past or present, told in letters, told backwards, told by someone who is lying. One page or twelve.
Any language, listed or not
Pick from twenty-four, or name one that isn't there. It's written natively in that language, not translated afterwards.
Two things stay fixed, whatever the brief asks for: nothing sexually explicit, and nothing that sexualises a minor. Beyond that, an adult audience can be told a genuinely frightening story with an unhappy ending — dread and consequence are fine, gore is not.

The Light That Answers
I kept the lens polished. Every evening I wound the clockwork mechanism and filled the brass reservoir with paraffin. The beam cut through six miles of black salt water. North Rock sat three miles out, jagged and silent. Mariners hated the narrow channel between the headland and the shoal. My job was simple. I pointed the beam. They saw the flash and sheared away. I counted six vessels that autumn. They passed like grey teeth against the sky. I logged each hour, each wind shift, each pint of oil burned. The ocean was quiet that November. The fog came down early and stayed. It smelled of wet copper and rotted kelp. I turned the crank. The light spun.
